Norm and Barb Larson met after Norm had graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics. After college, Norm returned to his father's cattle and grain operation in Maple Park, IL in 1976 and married Barb in 1978. Barb is a city girl who after graduating from Northern Illinois University, learned about farming quickly by working at a local FS facility with fertilizer distribution to farmers in the area. Norm became a DeKalb Seed Dealer in 1987 and went on to cofound Midwest Consulting Service in 1991. In 1997, MCS was to sold Case IH where Norm became the Field Agronomist in 2000. In the position, Norm assisted in the launch of the Case IH PT planter in 2001, with demonstration plots in Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. Also in 2001, he helped develop the Plant Stand Management Evaluator (PSME) software for evaluating corn plant stands. During this time, Norm was also able to complete his Master's degree in Agronomy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He continued his studies with the completion of his MBA in 2004 at Northern Illinois University. In 2005, Norm became the Agronomy Sales Manager at Elburn Cooperative Co. Here he assisted in the improvement of the field sales force team's selling abilities of agronomy products.

After almost 10 years away from the farm, Norm returned in 2008. Today Norm is the Tillage Systems Manager along with soil fertility guru and Barb handles all the billing and payroll at Larson Farms Partnership including serving the city of DeKalb as 2nd Ward Alderman. They have two daughters and one son in law. Their oldest daughter Jeanine Holcomb is the Marketing Director at the Egyptian Theatre and her husband Wade Holcomb is a Triage Nurse for Northwestern Medicine. Their youngest daughter Renee Larson is a massage therapist and is engaged to be married to Jon Hagelstein (carpenter for Terry Vonderheide Construction).  Also, Renee and Jon both help run different pieces of equipment seasonally around the farm.  Norm and Barb are very glad to have all of them live so nearby. Norm also keeps himself busy by staying involved in organizations outside of Larson Farms including the Egyptian Theatre.
